8. Google User Data (Google Calendar and Google Tasks)

This section applies to data we receive from Google APIs when you choose to connect your Google account. For that data, it takes precedence over sections 3 and 5.

Limited Use disclosure. ExpertZoom's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

  • Data accessed: the title, description, date and time of events in the Google calendars you grant access to, and the title, notes and due date of your Google Tasks. We also receive your Google account email address to identify your account, and your name if you sign up with Google.
  • Data written: when an event or task relates to a topic covered by our experts, we may add a short note with a link to the relevant ExpertZoom advice to that event or task. We only modify events you own and your own tasks. When you disconnect, we remove these notes and any reminder events we created.
  • How we use it: Google user data is used only to provide and improve user-facing features of ExpertZoom that you enabled: detecting upcoming appointments and deadlines in your calendar, showing you relevant advice in your ExpertZoom account, reminding you of recurring deadlines detected in your calendar (in the app and by email), adding the note described above, and letting the ExpertZoom assistant take these deadlines into account when it answers your own questions. We use it for no other purpose.
  • What we never do: we do not use Google user data for advertising, including retargeting, personalized or interest-based advertising; we do not sell it; we do not use it to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes; we do not use it to develop, improve or train generalized artificial intelligence or machine learning models.
  • Transfers: Google user data is transferred only to the service providers needed to operate these features — our hosting provider, the AI provider that analyzes event content on our behalf (Google Gemini API, under terms that prohibit using it to train their models), and our email delivery provider, to send you the reminders described above — and only as necessary to provide or improve these features, to comply with applicable law, or as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets with notice to you. It is never transferred to data brokers or information resellers.
  • Retention and deletion: your Google access tokens, the advice generated from your events, and the recurring deadlines derived from your calendar are kept only while your calendar is connected. You can disconnect it at any time from your account settings; we then revoke our access with Google and delete the tokens, the generated advice and the deadlines derived from your calendar. You can also revoke access at any time from your Google Account permissions page, or ask us to delete your data at direction@expert-zoom.com.

Outlook (Microsoft) calendar. If you connect an Outlook calendar, we use its data for the same features, with the same limits on advertising, sale and AI training, and we delete it in the same way when you disconnect. Microsoft's permissions let us edit the events you can access: we may add a note to those events, or create a separate reminder event in your calendar. When you disconnect, we remove the notes we added, but reminder events we created remain in your Outlook calendar until you delete them.
