Warner Bros. finally gave Batman fans something to look at this month — and, fittingly, it is almost too dark to see. On 8 July 2026 director Matt Reeves posted the first-look teaser of Robert Pattinson back in the cowl for The Batman Part II, while confirming the sequel has slipped again to a 18 February 2028 cinema release. According to Deadline, Pattinson has called the new script "extraordinary" and warned it takes "some big swings". That look is a deliberate artistic choice. The problem is that most living-room televisions are not set up to reproduce it, so the drama vanishes into a grey or pitch-black smear. Why dark films fall apart on your TV
Three things sabotage shadow detail. First, showroom "Vivid" or "Dynamic" picture modes, which most sets ship in by default, blow out contrast and clip the darkest tones into a single flat black.
